Tales of the Burned Stones is a free and solo-friendly dark-fantasy role-playing game of journeying and dungeon delving. In this game inspired by Diablo, The Witcher, and The Warded Man, players assume the roles of resurrected raiders who are brave and foolish enough to delve into the ruins of the derelict kingdom.
Located next to Mount Baram, the ruins lead to endless demon filled tunnels filled with stories, mementos, wealth, and lost artifacts.

This Breathless game acts as a prequel to Stoneburner, a sci-fantasy TTRPG of demon-hunting and community building in a dwarven asteroid mine. It uses the same fan-favorite, rules-light systems to allow for fast-paced journeying through perilous lands. This project was designed for all the wonderful people who have helped, boosted, and backed Stoneburner during its Kickstarter campaign. This game is a gift from us to you and to the rest of the TTRPG community. Now go explore, loot, and most importantly, survive.

Mount Baram groaned and shattered, birthing unfathomable tunnels spiraling deep into the unknown. From the abyss, shadows emerged. Countless hordes of monstrous fire-spitting creatures laid waste to all in their path, reducing to ashes the realm that lay at the foot of the mountain. The remaining kingdoms now stand as mere shadows of their past selves. You are one of the remnants. The Sisters of the Eclipse found your lifeless body, and brought you back. Waking up among the debris of the cataclysm, changed and indebted, you have turned to scouring the endless pits for the treasures and stories buried deep within.Commoners plead for your help in finding missing heritage and mementos while guilds offer rewards for locating lost wealth and gold. Even queens require your services and task you with finding rare folktale artifacts like the Burned Stones of old. Despite everything, you press on. The past is lost, the future uncertain, but your skills remain. The past is lost, the future uncertain, but your skills remain.

Folks are Saying...

Tales of the Burned Stones accomplishes a lot of things that we can learn from. First and foremost, it continues to show Fari RPGs elevated commitment to the gaming space as a whole, not just their community. Secondly, it stands as an elegantly communicated framework, both for inspiring future games and work, as well as being a toolkit for designers to build from. Thirdly, and perhaps the most importantly, it's just a hell of a lot of fun to read, play, and look at. This game punches well above its weight level.- Alan Bahr of Gallant Knight GamesTales of the Burned Stone offers a refreshing look at the fantasy world we love to play in. Both dark and full of horrors from a recent cataclysm, and simultaneously full of hope for the future. It gives you enough lore to get a real vision of the world, while leaving plenty of room for the players to explore all the possibilities it unleashes. A fantastic world that fits perfectly with its sci-fi sibling, Stoneburner.- Andrew Boyd of Pandion GamesTales of the Burned Stones is a shining example of two facets I have come to expect from Fari RPG releases; evocative and engaging world building paired up with tight, intuitive gameplay. After reading through just the first few pages, not only are you intimately familiar with the unique setting where your story will unfold, but also the systems through which it is told. Very few games can sync up your excitement to play so well with your understanding of how to play them (and still leave room for experimentation), quite like Tales of the Burned Stones.- Wolfe Scott of Level 1 AdventuringA must-play game. It is a wonderful twist on classic fantasy exploration to emulate the exhaustion and increasing difficulty suffered by the player characters. An elegant game full of evocative elements that makes you feel breathless. It's definitely a game you'll want to play, either solo or in the company of your table.

The way TotBS sets the scene with its combination of art and peotic storytelling is both chilling and beautiful. I love that TotBS is set up for solo play AND group play - you can play your character both on their own adventures and with your friends.- Steph C of TTRPG Kids
